Our Story - Athens Equine

At Athens Equine, family and horses are at the heart of everything we do.

Founded in 2012 by Dr. Todd Laughrey and his wife Marcie Laughrey, our practice was built on a shared passion: delivering exceptional veterinary care while treating every horse and every client as part of our extended family. Dr. Laughrey graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 1992 and brings decades of experience and a deep commitment to equine health. After years of serving horses in both Florida and Texas, Todd and Marcie made Athens their home. Together they created a clinic tailored to the unique needs of equine athletes across disciplines racing, cutting, barrel-racing, cow-horse, and more.

Today, Athens Equine is proud to be part of the Equine Sports Medicine & Surgery network allowing us to offer advanced performance medicine, reproductive services, and comprehensive equine care. Our team blends years of hands-on expertise with cutting-edge diagnostics, rehabilitation therapies, and customized care plans to help every horse perform at its best.
